LARBI MAKES WAVES IN WESTERN REGIONAL SPRITE BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Point guard for Ghana Secondary Technical School, Sidney Larbi, has earned rave reviews following his first-rate performance at the Western Regional Sprite Ball Championship which ended on Friday.

The 16-year-od who is a first year student of the school showcased startling qualities that won the hearts and admirations of most fans at the venue.

He exhibited great stamina, amazing dribbling skills, speed, agility and his exceptional ball handling skills and control aided his school’s triumph at the highly competitive game.

Over 20 schools made their debut apperance in the prestigious championship and it was evident that the best indeed come from the West.

Schools like Arch Bishop Porter Girls, Takoradi Senior High, Shama Senior High, St John Senior High host G.S.T.S amongst others entertained the hundreds of fans who thronged the venue to witness the one-day competition.

G.S.T.S showed why they won the regional championship some few months ago by outclassing their opponet to win the Sprite Ball Championship for the first time in the competition’s rich history.

The school has etched its name and written it on gold plate as the first male school from the twin-city to be crowned champions of the celebrated competition.

He was extremely instrumental in helping the host to a well deserved victory over Ahantaman Senior High and will be key to the team’s attempt to unseat national champions Achimota School at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra in December.

He told basketballghana: ‘I thank God for how I played today and I am happy almost everybody here was impressed with my performance.’

‘It really counts a lot and gives you the desire to train hard and excel in the game. This is the game I have loved since infancy and I am glad I am getting to know how to play it and become a better player’

‘We realised we could win after our first two maches and so that inspired us and we are happy hard work has paid off.’
