The Technical Director of the Sprite Ball Championship, Mathias Ocloo, has thrown a big gauntlet by putting his weight behind Mfanstipim School to lift the national Sprite Ball Championship as the countdown to the two-day tournament continues unabated.
Mfantsipim earned rave reviews after they produced a peerless display of great basketball artistry to retain the Central regional Sprite Ball Championship at Cape Coast which earned them massive flattering remarks from the packed crowd at the Schools and Colleges Park.
Pundits have tipped the oldest Senior High School in Ghana to stake a huge claim for the title at the grand finale in Accra due to their solid defence, fluid attack, sublime piece of skills and excellent finishing.
They emerged from the six regional qualifiers as the highest scoring team and they will be among the huge contenders for the ultimate diadem despite close performances from schools like Ghana Seconadary Technical School, Prempeh College, Keta Senior High and Kinbu Secondary Technical School.
The technical chief for the Sprite Ball Championship, Mathias Ocloo insists the Mfanstipim team has the cutting edge over their opponents and relish the prospect of them lifting the trophy at the national event on Saturday December 19th and Sunday December 20th at the El-Wak stadium.
‘I have watched all the schools play ad I think they can win it if they keep their heads high at the grand finale.’ Ocloo told basketballghana.com.
‘I am not saying they will walk over all the teams but from what I witnessed at Cape Coast, I have a strong belief they will be the team to beat. They have energy, they are very strong and their finishing power is without a doubt unparalleled’
‘They will surely face some stiff oppostion from some of the schools in the other regions but I fancy them winnig if complecency don’t set in’
