TAMASCO and Damongo SHS-Northern Regional Sprite Ball Champs

Tamale Senior high school (TAMASCO) and Damongo Senior high school (DASS)  lifted the 2010 Sprite Ball Championship trophy in the boys and girls category respectively to become maiden winners of the competition in the Northern region.

A brave and resolute performance saw Tamale Senior High (Tamasco) beat perennial rivals Ghana Senior High (Ghanasco) 22-20 in an epic boy’s final of the 2010 Northern regional Sprite Ball Championship while dark horses Damongo Senior High school (DASS) killed off the challenge of Tamasco Girls in the finals.

Tamasco were simply awesome with some delectable basketball right from the blast of the whistle with small forward Abdulai Abdul Fatawu thick in the scheme of things.

It will be a championship that will leave an indelible mark in the minds of the thousands of fans who gathered at the venue on Saturday.

The two sides looked the likely candidate to clash in the boy’s final following their stellar display right from onset and it wasn’t much of a shock to see the two sworn rivals battle for pride in the Northern region.

Class, pure genius and act of power play were the cardinal point in their game which drew massive applause from dignitaries.

Tamasco boys dished out 21-6 victory over St Charles at the semi-final stage while their bitter rivals Ghanasco boys managed to scale the hurdle against Damongo boys at the same stage- setting the two power houses in a cliff hanger.

The Northern regional competition lowers the curtain on the 2010 regional championship.

The road has now been cleared and 32 schools spread across eight regions will compete in the grand finale slated for the El-Wak stadium on December 22-23rd
