Koforidua Secondary Technical School (K.S.T.S) may have profited from Abuakwa State College’s (Abusco) decision to field an unqualified player but that will not be key on their minds as they attempt to go a step further in the 2010 grand finale of the Sprite Ball Championship.
KSTS were crowned champions for the first time following the disqualification of Abusco from the region.
They placed third last year at the same venue after their stellar display saw them lose their semi-final plot to Keta Senior High. But they eventually recovered quickly to beat Ashanti regional based
Once again they continued their fine form in the high-status competition on home soil where the likes of Emmanuel Eckow Amoako, Joshua Adomako, David Opoku Attoh, Eric Afful and Jefffery Mintah combined effectively to ensure their qualification to next week’s competition is secured.
There’s been lots of talk about the ability of KSTS to shine especially when stakes are high especially when they crumbled under heavy expectations at their own backyard. They showed so much power play during the regional qualifiers and their ability to keep their heads above waters will be consequential in their quest to a move a step closer to the ultimate diadem.
‘We know a lot will be expected of us especially after we finished as second runners up last year and that’s why we’re leaving no stone unturned to ensure make school and ourselves proud’. Chief handler for KSTS Emmanuel Eckow Amoako told basketballghana.com
‘We’ve grown as a team and the team spirit is back after that defeat to Abusco. We know understand more than ever that if we want to win, we must remain focus and believe in ourselves’.
There are no injury worries for Coach Simeon Eric Larbi’s young charges and they will certainly be one of the side’s that come into the competition with lots of tricks under their sleeves and underestimating them will be done at one own peril.
The battle lines have been drawn and we live to see what happens on Dee 22-23rd, 2010 at the –El-Wak stadium.
