2011 Community Dunks rolls out on Aug 27, 2011

Another sizzling season of basketball for Under-18’s in selected communities in the Greater Accra region is here with us again, therefore brace yourself for another unrivalled performance from burgeoning talents who are keen to showcase their potential and ambitions.

The 3rd in the series of the popular ‘Community Dunks’ rolls out from 27th August – 1 October, 2011.

What makes it more innovating and exciting is the fact that the games will be brought to the communities in three phases. The first two communities in the three zones will qualify to the next stage of the competition at a neutral ground.

Champions Kaneshie will begin the quest to retain the title they won last year when they tackle Dansoman and James Town on August 27 at the centre court of the International Central Gospel Church, Abbosey Okai.

Head coach Sam Tagoe believes they have hit on the right formula to deliver another success.

‘We won last year and so there will obviously be pressure on us to retain the trophy and we’re ready for it’. Tagoe said.

Elsewhere, Kaiza’s court in Tema will see its first competitive sporting action on September 4 as spectators watch three of the best team’s at the Basketball Arena.

Tema will count on home support as they entertain Sakumono and Ashaiman in the three-horse race for a slot at the knockout stage.

Previous winners Cantonment, Ridge and Burma camp will lit fans at the Prisons court with swash buckling performances to select two teams for the semi-final stage.

The quarter-final stage takes place on the 11 September with the semi-finals taking place a week later.

The El-Wak stadium will then host the final game on October 1, 2011
