Telemundo awarded broadcast rights in Puerto Rico for Spain 2014

Puerto-Rico-Telemundo-20-12FIBA has announced it is awarding the exclusive broadcasting rights in Puerto Rico to Telemundo for the transmission of the 2014 Centrobasket, 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and 2015 FIBA Americas Championship.

Following a successful coverage of the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship, the President of Telemundo of Puerto Rico, Jose Cancela, confirmed that basketball fans in Puerto Rico will be able to follow all of the games of their national team.

“Due to the celebration of the 60 years of our channel, we will transmit at least 60 games of the FIBA World Cup. We promise to convey all games of Puerto Rico and the USA Team in Telemundo and the other games in Punto 2,” he said.

The 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be played from August 30 to September 14, in the Spanish cities of Barcelona, Bilbao, Gran Canaria, Granada, Madrid and Seville.

The 2014 Centrobasket will take place in Monterrey, Mexico from 19 to 26 July.

The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship hasn’t been awarded yet. Five countries have expressed their interest in hosting the tournament: Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Brazil.
