Community Dunks
Community Dunks is an inter-communities
basketball tournament designed to cater for talented basketball players in our communities who have possibly been denied the opportunity to participate in any competitive game because they have completed school or do not attend school. This competition is an initiative that comes as an addition to our portfolio of basketball programmes to ensure consistency in the development of the basketball game in Ghana.
Ten communities from the
Greater Accra region participated in the competition.
The tournament was played every Friday from June 5th- September 4th 2009 at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
IT was launched by the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak on 5th July, 2009 at El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra. Communities selected for the maiden edition they were:
Dansoman, Sakumono, Kaneshie, Ashiaman, James Town, Legon, Tema, Cantonment, Nima and Ridge.
