Damongo Senior High Girls produced an eye-catching display to lift the maiden edition of the Northern regional Sprite Ball Championship over the weekend and their heroic achievement will never go unnoticed.

The young girls from the Northern part of the country didn’t only win the championship, but was the only side that showed tactical and technical abilities on the basketball court of the Ghana Senior High (Ghanasco).

Their team chemistry and quick feet displayed interspersed with aggression and power play propelled them to lift the competition on a ‘silver platter’

They made so much and easy work of their opponents that they could only result to transition basketball.

They stole the show with some sublime piece of skills, raising the hopes and aspirations of fans that they can hold the flag of their region aloft when they participate in the grand finale of the prestigious Sprite Ball Championship on December 22nd and 23rd.

Interestingly the school was the only one which came outside the capital Tamale to play in the competition which continues to earn rave review and gain inches in the Ghanaian press.

The battle lines have been drawn and their potential meeting with the likes of Awudome Senior High, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, Aggrey Memorial, Sunyani Senior High Girls, Nkawkaw Girls and Greater Accra and National champions Sacred Heart among others will be mind-blowing and worth-waiting.

They will indeed prove a difficult nut to crack when they take the 12-hour journey to the Nation’s capital to tackle other equally strong contenders for the title.

Battling past the likes of Kalphohin Senior High (Kass), Northern Business School (Nobisco), Ghana Senior High Girls (Ghanasco) and their eventual triumph over powerhouse Tamale Senior High Girls (Tamasco) was no mean achievement and they’ve encrypted their name in gold in the region.
