Tamasco, which is one of the elite schools in the Northern region and in Ghana, put up an awe-inspiring form to beat host and perennial rivals Ghana Senior High in the finals of the maiden edition of the high-status Sprite Ball Championship last weekend.
Silencing the home support was key on the minds of the players and their ability to shelve the chanting of the host team and their high level of mental fortitude played the cardinal role in handing them their first Sprite Ball silverware.
It was one of those unique rival matches that lived up to its pre-match hype as both teams played to the best of their ability but in the end it took that x-factor from the visitors to silence the home fans.
Painful was the defeat for Ghanasco judging from the fact that they came into the championship on a positive note. They had placed third at the National basketball championship held in Kumasi where they lost at the semi-final stage to Ghana Secondary Technical School (G.ST.S).
History tilted in favour of Ghanasco ahead of the final game but Tamasco made nonsense of their past breaches against their rivals with a well-worked performance which saw two three pointers killed the challenge of their opponent.
Ghanasco will take consolation in the fact that they can take another shot at the title when they battle 31 others in the grand finale in Accra on December 22nd 23rd.
