For the thousands of fans and millions who watched the game around the world of the grand-finale of the first ever Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) basketball championship, one name that will forever remain on the lips of many undoubtedly will be Emmanuel Dickson.
The Accra Polytechnic small forward took the one-day championship by storm with some lightning speed, agility and dexterity to thrill the record crowd at the centre court of the University of Ghana.
For many who thought Dickson’s performance in the zone B qualifiers was a fluke he again underlined his credential as the man who has a great future in the game in the West African country.
His sublime piece of skills coupled with his team character and chemistry propelled the capital institution to lift the championship and in the process etched their name in the history folklore.
His great offensive output and scoring prowess was amazing as he dazzled opponents with sassy ease.
He definitely took the shine of Daniel Nii Aryee and Nicholas Amuzu who themselves didn’t disappoint their fans.
He got the crowd on their feet anytime his hands touched the ball given hope that the games has enormous talents who will take the game by blizzard in the West African country.
It was double joy for the man who plies his trade with the Ghana Police Service in the Greater Accra basketball series.
His final match-up performance against the University of Education (Winneba) capped an incredible roller coaster run for the youngster who will remember the championship as probably the best in his young career.
Lots of lessons have been learnt from the UPAC championship. The only tournament that brings the various tertiary blocs in Ghana under one umbrella to settle the score as to who is really the best in the country.
