The much-talked about Ghana Basketball and Leadership Camp started on a whirlwind fashion on Sunday August 25 in Accra.

Over forty boys and girls are taken part in the BIG six-day event at Penfield School at Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra.

The participants are expected to learn the fundamentals of the game while acquiring leadership skills to enhance their capacity for future endeavours.

The opening ceremony attracted a number of high-profile personalities who shared their views on the importance of the first ever residential camp in the West African country.

Three-time WBC Super featherweight champion, Professor Azumah Nelson, President of the Ghana Basketball Association, David Addo-Ashong, Proprietor of Penfield School Samuel Anim Ayeko as well as Chief Executive of Rite Multimedia, Yaw Sakyi Afari, took turns to address the participant.

Professor Nelson advised the participants to take the session seriously which he believes will impact positively on their lives. He admonished them to imbibe discipline in all the things they do which he recognizes will prove the catalyst for success.

In his address, the president of the Ghana Basketball Association, David Addo-Ashong also underlined the important of discipline, hard work and commitment – the key component to realizing one’s full blown potential.

He urged them to take full advantage of the teachings and learn the art of teamwork which he believes will go a long way to making them better personalities.

Participants are expected to go through many drills including defense, offense, faking and many other fundamentals which will prove crucial in their quest to become improved players.

The six-day session is expected to end on Saturday August 31.
