Hang out on as teams prepare for 2014 Sprite Ball

spritelogoThe 2014 Sprite Ball Championship tip off in January and many sectors are hard at work to put on the best show possible.

Public and private schools spread across six regions will once again converge at the Aviation Social Centre to attempt to either be counted among the numbers or end up winning the ultimate diadem.

Even though the numbers are yet to be added up as some regions are yet to determine their qualifiers, it’s therefore a bit early to be talking about that since the tournament is two months away, but the usual heavyweights have been earmarked as the favorite heading into the extravaganza.

From amazing goals, scintillating blocks, great rebounds and moments of brilliance, anger despair, excitement and disappointment will be the major ingredients for the 28 participating schools.

Record-holders Mfantsipim as well as defending girls champions Aggrey Memorial will defend their crowns this term but there are uncertainty surrounding the other representatives from the Central Region.

St Augustines, Adisadel College as well as Wesley Girls are all in the frame to return to the big stage.

Sacred Hearts, Kinbu Secondary Technical and St Mary’s will represent the Greater Accra region with Tema Senior High with Presbyterian Boys School, St Thomas Aquinas and Labone Senior High expected to complete the pack.

Eastern regional heavyweights Pope John Secondary and Junior Seminary and Koforidua Secondary Technical School (KSTS) are back on the block as always Nkawkaw and others fight for a place in the finals.

Mawuli Senior High, Keta Senior High and Kadjebi Asatu are the recognized forces to represent the Volta Region.

The Ashanti region will have a new face in Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS) who have earned qualification to the finals for the first time. Usual suspects and sworn rivals Prempeh College and Opoku Ware.

Yaa Asantewaa and TI Ahamdiya are the girl schools that will represent the Garden City.

There are no old foes from the Western Region as giants Ghana Secondary and Technical School (GSTS), St Johns and Shama Senior High will represent the oil city.

Two private schools Akosombo International School from the Eastern Region and Ghana Lebanon and Islamic School (GLISS) from the capital will complete the pack.
