DrakeThe Toronto Raptors made the decision to bestow Drake with an official title, naming him global ambassador and empowering him to make appearances on behalf of the team.

Problem is, Drake isn’t an NBA person and he doesn’t think like one. So when he was in the moment at a concert and Kevin Durant was in attendance, he made an impromptu pitch for Toronto. Drake asked fans to cheer if they wanted Durant to come to Toronto. And, of course, they obliged.

That decision came back to bite the Raptors, who have been fined $25,000 for violating the anti-tampering rules, according to ESPN Marc Stein.

The Toronto Raptors may have a hard time landing the biggest free agents, but with the help of an ambassador named Drake, they may have a better chance moving forward.

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant attended a recent Drake concert in Toronto. With the 2013-14 NBA MVP present, the rapper made a pitch to Durant—with the help of the crowd—to sign with the Raptors when he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2016.
