Mohamed Abdelmotaleb the member FIBA Competitions Commission had stated that the FIBA is studying possibility to enable non-European Mediterranean clubs in Euroleague and high possibility to approve such move.

Abdelmotaleb stated to Egyptian newspaper last week that this is not a new move and in 60’s and 70’s some Egyptian clubs had already played in the Eurocup.

The Mediterranean countries are Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Montenegro, Northern Cyprus (recognized only by Turkey), Palestine, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, and Tunisia.

Most of these countries are already European.
