University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Point Guard Robert Fiifi Brew and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Shooting Guard Ekow Amoako will headline a showdown in Group B’s opening game of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The duo both emerged from basketball stable and Eastern Region powerhouse Koforidua Secondary Technical School (K.S.T.S.). Both guys were instrumental in K.S.T.S’ march into the latter stages of Ghana’s biggest high school basketball tournament-Sprite Ball in consecutive years.

Brew, popularly known as “Kube”, has made great strides in his game as he willed UENR to win Zone C in the preliminary qualifiers. He was named Most Valuable Player of the zone after wonderful performances fueled the team’s winning run.

Amoako

Amoako on the other hand play a key role in KNUST’s march into the last eight of the competition as KNUST beat host Kumasi Polytechnic 42-31. The team, like UENR, topped the zone in the preliminary stage.

However, both players will need support from star men Benjamin Quarshie and Kwasi Akrasi of UENR and KNUST respectively.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, CAL Bank and Fanyogo in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, Y FM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
