”We will all not be together next year some of the students will be done with school I think four or five will be done…I will be done in June but am sure the spirit of Legon (University of Ghana) keeps on…This is not the (only) great team the University of Ghana has had so we will also have another great team for the next tournament” Akai said in an interview with Basketballghana.com

The pint-sized Point Guard played an instrumental role in UG’s capture of the UPAC title which had the team top Zone G by beating Marshalls University College in the preliminary qualifiers and Accra Polytechnic to top Group A in the quarter finals.

Team UG followed up that winning run with a close 49-47 win over Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology before sealing a wonderful campaign with a last gasp three point shot from Emmanuel Wolff.
