The Greater Accra Women’s Basketball League will commence today at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra as Prisons takes on Navy in the opening game at 15:00 GMT. The new season will have eight teams compete for the ultimate title in the region.

The 2016 season was originally scheduled to commence on Thursday April 21 but the start date had to be moved to ensure technical appraisals by organizers went through successfully. Later in the day, Fire Service will take on
Reformers with Air Force taking on Galaxy Basketball in the other game at 17:00 GMT.


However, the University of Ghana female team’s game against Police has been put on hold due to scheduling issues with the institution.

The league will run for seven consecutive weeks and the winner qualifies to represent Ghana in the West African Zonal games for the African Club Championship.
