Former standout triple and long jumper Kenny Andam has stated an athlete’s vision is to impact younger generation by teaching and help develop their talent.

He made the statement during his recent trip to Ghana where he and San Antonio Spurs Power Forward David West have teamed up to identify talents in the country and provide scholarships to further their education in US Colleges and high schools.

In an interview with Basketballghana.com, he said:

“The whole vision of being an athlete is to basically take the knowledge that you’ve developed and learned over the years to help teach the younger generation to become better than you are.”

“Personally I started out in Takoradi as a triple jumper and long jumper and I became a national champion and went ahead to compete in the World championship and Olympics so if I am capable of that… definitely there is talent out there that we can help.”

David West and Andam were hosted by Yaw Sakyi Afari on basketball show “Fast Break” on Ghanaian television channel TV3. This is the second time the former Indiana Pacers Power Forward West is visiting Ghana following his stint prior to his shock move from Indiana.
