Ghana Wheel Chair Basketball Federation President Max Vardon has reiterated the immense benefits Ghana will get should a training scheme to Morocco get the green light by close of the week. The technical session will be held during the African Paralympic Championship in the North African country in July.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com after appearing on premium basketball show “Fast Break”, Vardon (right)espoused the need to make the trip aside avoiding sanctions from the world body should Ghana fail to represent at the event. He said:

“It is absolutely crucial because unless we have accredited officials in the country, we will not be able to meet the qualification for participation in Rio (Olympic Games) in other international sport…the International Wheel Chair Basketball Federation gave us an invite…so we can build up that expertise and be able to participate internationally”.

Ghana’s Wheel Chair Federation needs $7000 to cater for three officials’ trip to Morocco for the training program before Sunday. The team failed to participate in qualifiers for competitions on the continent and the Olympic Games due to be held in September due to acute shortage of funds which have stalled many initiatives from the federation.

He entreated organizations and well wishers to aid the team.
