2016 Ghana Basketball Awards winner Benjamin Sarpong has lauded the first ever High School and College Draft taking place at the University of Ghana between August 22 and August 27.
The head coach was on hand at the Basketball Awards on August 12 after the program won the Development Award as key personalities including Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri were honored.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com at the start of the draft that is aimed at providing scholarships to talented individuals to top Ghanaian educational institutions, Coach Sarpong is ecstatic with the scheme.
“Its’ a good idea…I think its going to help Ghana basketball and sports in general. I also believe that my guys will make it because I know they are capable of making it. At the end of it they will sail through” he said of players from the academy who are partaking in the process of earning scholarships.
Prospective student athletes will be taken through several drills in shooting, passing, rebounding and athleticism by a technical team including Accra Basketball League outfit DC Dynamics Coach Feranmi Olulonyo.
