Reformers of Prisons and Security Service Team recorded opening game wins in the male and female divisions respectively in the ongoing After7 Cowbell Fetu Afahy3 Basketball Tournament Day Two at the Cape-Coast Stadium.

Security Service, made up of players from Fire Service and Braves of Customs, easily saw off the challenge of Galaxy as the former won 21-12. The game got more competitive in the second half as Galaxy’s Naa Shika Moffat sparked her side into life by scoring on consecutive jump shots to reduce the deficit to six.

Service switched tactics to press high up the court and succeeded in smothering Galaxy and forcing them into turnovers which they capitalized on to see the game out.

In the male division, Reformers tournament campaign got off to a flying start as they handed Takoradi Select side a 19-39 loss. Things got off to a bad start as Reformers committed many errors in the first quarter but found a way back into the game on the back of Elvis Pobi-Siaw’s three point barrage.

Center Aziz Mohammed proved a major sparkplug off the bench as his ferocity on the boards and deft touch around the basket, combined with his size made him unstoppable in the paint. Takoradi’s play was nothing like the one shown in their shock opening game win over the more fancied Police team.
