Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I Champions Braves of Customs and Ghana’s representatives at the upcoming FIBA Zone Three Africa Championship are no strangers to competing at the elite level.

Multiple qualification to competitions of international repute like the one mentioned above have come naturally to the side after dominating the Ghanaian scene for many years.

However, the team will compete in Lome, Togo between October 21 and October 30 with a trio of outstanding individuals who, unsurprisingly, hold the distinct honor of being named Ghana’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) at a point in time.

In Baniba Dodzie, Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan and Suleman Abubakar, Braves possesses three top winners at the Ghana Basketball Awards. Unlike previous times that the side has failed to progress from the zonal competition to the main competition, the presence of all three men gives the side a huge shot at qualifying beyond the zone.

All three men look the part after a stellar display in hushing bitter rival Tema Youth in the league final with reigning King, Abubakar dominated the paint with a series of blocks and manhandling Youth’s big man Sam Buodom.

2013 and 2015 MVPs’ Dodzie and Alhassan put in a good shift on both ends of the floor with a combination of top marksmanship and strong perimeter defense. Braves are expected in Lome prior to the competition’s start.

Ghana’s other representative Tema Youth and Braves Female side won’t compete in the nine day event due to financial shortcomings Basketballghana.com gathers.
