Tema Central Point Guard Aninagyei Osei has praised the efforts of his teammates after scooping the Most Valuable Player Award at the Ebi Bright Basketball Tournament which took place at Tema’s Community 4 Basketball Court.

Osei played a crucial role in leading Tema to beat Flashlights 44-40 in the final game after a 36-27 win over Ashaiman Lions in the opening round. Speaking to Bassketballghana.com after winning the top individual prize of the competition, he said:

“I would like to thank my teammates and my coaches. I can’t do this alone even if it’s an individual award, but then it’s a group thing. I am excited about the award”.

He stated further, familiarity with his teammates was key to the success of his good form and the team’s win. “Luckily for me, I play with people I like to play with it but it was difficult. We were winning and we were losing but then we had to keep up the spirit… and we actually did take the trophy.”

Osei played well against veteran Point Guard Patrick Gomerli of Flashlights in the final game as the side won the trophy before tournament financier and National democratic Congress aspiring Member of Parliament for Tema Central Constituency, Ebi Bright.

Ghana Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye and Tema Mayor Isaac Ashai Odamtten were in attendance.
