Scheduled games in the Global Sporting Platforms (GSP) Basketball League in Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo regional capital Sunyani, have been postponed due to “humanity” grounds according to League Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo.

The season’s first round was expected to resume following a week break earlier today but management officially made the announcement to move the game to December 3.

The postponement is to allow players of tertiary institutions competing in the league time to complete midterm examinations that have started in all three institutions namely University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints and Sunyani Polytechnic.

All three teams competed last season in the first edition of the league and are in serious battle for spots in the ongoing campaign with CUCG Saints faring better than the remaining institution teams. Both UENR and Sunyani Polytechnic find themselves in the bottom half of the league standing after the first round.

After the first round, defending champions Suncity Braves lead the standings having won all seven games in the round and look the part of retaining its title. At the other end of the table, LIR Royals remain rooted to the basement of the ranking after a dismal half season.
