UG in action against KNUST.

University of Professional Studies (UPSA) has exited the ongoing Mini Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games following a woeful display in the competition where the side bowed out without winning a game.

The turnout is more shocking considering the side is just a year removed from placing second at the Main Games held in January last year at the University of Education-Winneba (UEW). UPSA lost 49-65 to UG.

However, in three games played at University of Cape-Coast (UCC) Gymnasium, Coach Emmanuel Essel Worbil’s side registered no wins in matches against Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), UEW and UCC.

The side lost 48-54 in the opening game against KNUST before falling 64-78 to UEW in the second game. Host UCC’s 85-42 demolition ended the Accra-based institution’s abject performance in the competition.

KNUST and UCC were on the opposite end of results after making it out of the group as UCC beat University of Development Studies 76-56 to make it to the finals and KNUST lose 35-43 to University of Ghana (UG) in the semifinals.

Both games will be played on Thursday January 12 at the Gymnasium.
