Ghana’s Western Region Basketball Association heads to the poll later today as delegates vote at the annual general meeting at 17:00 GMT.

The awaited event takes place at SSNIT Hall in the regional capital, Takoradi.

Incumbent President Ebo Simpson will have his reign atop of one of the nation’s high profile breeding nest of players, extended or halted at the end of the day.

The votes are key to determine “the outcome of Western Region basketball in the years to come” per Public Relations Officer Nasiru Bonney.

The region has produced a great wealth of talented players including Ben Bentil who made history by becoming the first ever Ghana-born player to be drafted into the NBA.

He was drafted 51st overall by Boston Celtics in last year’s draft after two years at Providence College.

He currently plays for Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League.
