Ghana Forward Ben Bentil did not play for Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the side’s 123-144 loss to the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA Development League after his stint with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA.

Bentil signed a 10 day contract with Dallas Mavericks featuring in games against the likes of Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks. However, his deal with the Mavericks was not extended as he got replaced by Jarrod Uthoff.

The 6 foot 8 inch Forward returned to the Development League and was expected to make his return with an appearance against Los Angeles Lakers Development League affiliate. No explanation for his absence was made available despite being listed on Fort Wayne’s roster.

Bentil however, could be in line to play for Fort Wayne Mad Ants’ clash with Reno Bighorns later tonight.

Bentil’s short tenure in the NBA made him the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA after he made history by becoming the first from the West African nation to be drafted into the NBA.

He was drafted 51st overall by Boston Celtics and has had a similar stint in the Chinese Basketball Association for Xinjian Guanghui Flying Tigers.
