Nungua Coldstore has emerged winners of the Tema Community Basketball League preseason competition after beating Tudu Magic 32-26 in the final game in overtime at the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court.
The defending champions came out tops in a grueling and engaging matchup against the Accra Basketball League outfit that had the game’s lead change several times.
However, Nungua narrowly missed out on the trophy as Magic missed one of two free throws to keep the score tied at 25.
Jonathan Walker converted a big three point shot that ultimately set Nungua on a scoring run to seal the win.
Walker missed out on the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player Award which was won by Magic duo Shadrach Quaye and Tsatsu Sakpaku.
This is the third title for the Nungua side since it began competing in the Tema League last season. Prior to its latest win, Coldstore scooped two trophies including the League title.
The side was presented with a trophy and a cash prize of 200 Ghana Cedis. Ghana Navy placed third in the competition after edging out Tema Community 2 42-29.
