Zone E games in the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship will be headlined by two time and record winners Accra Technical University (ATU).
The 2011 and 2015 Champions will host Wisconsin University College, Central University and Pentecost University College on March 16.
ATU is expected to top the zone and qualify to the quarter finals but Pentecost University could be the side to ruin such predictions.
The Sowutuom-based tertiary institution beat the likes of Ho Technical University in the preliminary round in last year’s Championship but failed to qualify to the next stage after losing 27-37 to Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
As the only non ATU side with a winning record in the zone, Pentecost does pose a serious threat to the host.
ATU is likely to miss some key players including Suleman Abubakar, Mutaleeb Alhassan and David Tetteh because of their participation in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I games just a day before.
Abubakar and Alhassan will be in action Braves of Customs against rival Tema Youth as Tetteh is set to play for Ghana Navy against Adenta Leopards.
