Tema (white) in action against Navy.
Dynamics (orange) lost 38-55 to Leopards.

Tema Youth continues to dazzle in the 2017 Accra Basketball League opening rounds as the side topped an excellent week off with a rugged display to claim its second win of the young season. The side beat Ghana Navy 72-65 in the first game of the Men’s Division second week.

New boys Adenta Leopards on the other hand, claimed its maiden win in the elite division following a top notch display to beat DC Dynamics 55-38 in the second game at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

After beating nemesis Braves of Customs 84-78 in an enthralling game a few days before, Tema Youth still had loads of energy in the tank to get the better of a very good Navy side. Youth came up tops in another physically draining battle that had Youth Shooting Guard Jonathan Walker fouled out. Tema won the third quarter 52-48.

Free throws were rife in the final quarter as both team fouls continued to rack up. In the end, clutch shooting from the charity stripe determined the final outcome of the game.

A better performance in the third quarter from DC Dynamics made the final score against Adenta Leopards prevented the side from losing by a much bigger deficit. Power Forward/Center David Maja’s jumper ended a 12 point Adenta run in the first quarter which dotted with three point shots from Bajigah Mohammed and David Pinto.

The first half ended with a late three point shot from Dynamics Guard Lantei-Blankson-Mills to make the score 15-30 for Adenta with Leopards Guard Edem Quist coming up big. Dynamics continued its upward trajectory in the opening minutes of the third quarter but their efforts were quickly drowned out by Leopards.

This is the second straight loss for Dynamics in this matchup after losing in a preseason matchup.
