Basketball’s growth in Ghana hit a new high point in the wake of Icons Basketball Club Coach James Ocloo’s win in the Sports Category of the Coca-Cola Achievers Award.

The Award scheme which has been designed to honor young individuals in the country is part of the multinational company’s activities celebrating Ghana’s 60th Independence anniversary.

Ocloo’s player development-centric work with Icons Basketball is testament to the sports growth in the football dominated West African country.

Adding more credence to the fact was DC Dynamics Coach Feranmi Olulonyo’s nomination in the same category.

The young trainer has been at the forefront of youth development through basketball by setting up and coaching Dynamics.

The Dansoman-based side is competing in Ghana’s elite basketball division, the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I.

Dynamics made it to the postseason in its debut campaign last year and is in the running for a repeat this season.
