Participants for this year’s NBA Basketball Without Borders program have been announced ahead of the annual event which forms part of upcoming events in South Africa, to mark the second edition of the NBA Africa Game.
The 15th edition of the development and community outreach program will be held from August 2 to August 5 at the American International School of Johannesburg.
23 Girls and 57 boys aged 17 and under, have been invited to the renowned camp that has produced several headlining names in basketball including Bismack Biyombo of Orlando Magic and Joel Embiid of Philadelphia Sixers.
Campers will be will be taken through several on and off court basketball drills by NBA players a stellar collection of NBA players including 2015 Champion and former Sixth Man of the Year Leandro Barbosa, multiple All Star Guard Kyle Lowry and future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki.
Participants will be tutored in areas on communication and leadership, positional skill development and shooting tests.
The Nike sponsored program has been at the fore of youth basketball development on the continent and over 133 countries in the world.
The headline exhibition game between Team World and Team Africa takes place at the Ticketpro Dome on August 5 in Johannesburg.
