Navy closes in on Braves for Accra League top spot

Ghana Navy’s rich vein of form has the side on an upward swing in the ongoing Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division standings.

Thanks to a couple of impressive wins in as many games in the division, Navy lie second in the five team standings three points behind leaders Braves of Customs who have 25 points.

Navy beat Tudu Galaxy 45-39 in the last round of games to record its eight win in 14 games; the Mariners beat Fire Service 43-36 in an exciting duel prior to the win over Galaxy.

Fire Service lie third tied on 20 points with Galaxy but a superior goal difference puts Fire ahead of Tudu. Blowing University of Ghana out with a 64-11 improved its scoring output to see it rank higher than former division leaders Galaxy.

However, Galaxy has played 13 games one fewer than Fire meaning a win for Tudu in the next round against UG gets them ahead of Fire again.

Tertiary side UG has been struggling recently in the division as the oft shorthanded team is barely able to compete and unsurprisingly ranks bottom of the standings. Below is the full breakdown of the standings:

Galaxy (yellow) missed out on a win against Navy.
Fire (red) dominated UG.
