This year’s Festival takes place from August 31 to September 7 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Paa Joe Park in Kumasi.
The multi sport discipline was launched recently at the Golden Bean Hotel in Ghana’s Ashanti regional capital with Youth and Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah and National Sports Authority Head Robert Sarfo Mensah in attendance.
Speaking at the event, the COCOBOD Chief said, “Cocobod wil sponsor and mobilize support for National Sports Festival and all sports disciplines in Ghana”.
Boahen-Aidoo, a former of member of parliament for Sefwi-Ewiase in Ghana’s Western Region is expected to roll out a comprehensive plan to support the games.
Over 2000 athletes are set to compete for honors in ten disciplines including amateur boxing, badminton, netball, volleyball and para sports.
The event was last held in 2011 in Accra when it was known as the Unity Games; events were held at the Accra Sports Stadium and El-Wak Stadium.
