The 2017 National games has been launched at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi and is set to take place from August 31 to September at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Paa Joe Park has been earmarked to host competitions during the eight day multi sport discipline competition.
Athletes in the sport have been given a boost following the announcement which will have them compete in T12, T13, T42 and T46 categories respectively.
Over 2000 athletes will compete in ten disciplines including table tennis, tennis, badminton, female football, volleyball and netball.
Ahead of the games, Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has given the National Sports Authority $50,000 to prepare for the competition.
Minister Isaac Asiamah and NSA Head Robert Mensah were at the launch in the Ashanti regional capital. Media Enterprise EIB Network is supporting the upcoming games with a 30,000 Ghana Cedis deal worth of airtime to broadcast the games.
