This year’s competition takes place from August 18 to August 27 with 12 teams competing for the title and the opening game has the third best team in the tournament, per FIBA rankings released ahead of the competition, against the 11th ranked side.
Six games are set to be played today with the same number of fixtures expected for the next couple of days before a break ensues on Monday August 21.
Host nation Mali, Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast and Tunisia are in Group A with Nigeria, Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Senegal and Guinea paired in Group B.
Mali will be in action tonight at 19:00 GMT against Tunisia in its first game of the tournament. 2015 Bronze medalist Nigeria round up the opening round with a tie against Mozambique at 21:15 GMT.
