Defending champs return to action after extensive absence

Coldstore (blue) easily run out winners in the tie with C5.
Defending Tema Basketball League Champions Nungua Coldstore will be in action for the first time in a month when the side takes on Tema Community 12 on Sunday August 20 at Tema’s Community 4 Court.

The reigning champions have not featured in three previous rounds as scheduling issues prevented the side from making consistent league appearances.

However, last year’s champions have began the season on a positive note by winning the preseason tournament and currently paces teams in Group A.

Despite the long layoff, Coldstore’s deep talent pool puts the side ahead of opponent Community 12 as a result of the latter’s poor run in the competition that places it in the bottom ranks of the group.

C12 lost 20-40 to Ashaiman Lions who lost to Nungua in last year’s finals series while Coldstore was inactive for the round.

Community 5 play against Junior Reformers in the final Group A game with Ghana Navy taking on Akatsi Rifles and Community 2 up against Tema Heat in Group B.
