The 2017 Cape-Coast Basketball Festival will commence later today at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium with the annual competition due to take place in Ghana’s Central Region Capital.

14 teams competed in last year’s tournament in the female and male divisions and over ten teams are set to participate in this year’s competition.

Teams representing outfits and regions from several parts of the country have been invited to battle for honors in the 2017 competition.

Top players in Ghana have been invited to play for regions including Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Volta respectively.

Select club sides are also invited to the competition with Ghana Navy, Reformers of Prisons and After 7 Club feature in the 2016 edition.

Greater Accra clinched first place in the men and women divisions respectively with Navy placing second and Reformers placing third in the female competition.

Ashanti Region won silver ahead of Reformers and Volta Region in the men’s competition. Navy’s Maria Mensah and Ashanti Region’s Abdul Bashir were named MVP’s of the tournament.
