Reigning National MVP Matilda Gordon has not featured this season.
Players all over Ghana will gather at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape-Coast to compete in this year’s Basketball Festival which commences later today.

The annual tournament which is played on the backdrop of the town’s Fetu Afahy3 Festival gathers top players from several regions in the West African country to compete.

Prior to the construction of the stadium, games were usually held at the University of Cape-Coast (UCC) Courts.
Female and Male athletes will be involved in series of games at the plush edifice for two days before a winners are crowned.

A host of players have been invited from Ghana’s premier club basketball competition-the Accra Basketball League (ABL).

Due to the large exodus of players to Ghana’s Central region capital, the league has been halted to allow players participate in the tournament.

Select teams from Greater Accra Region won the competition last year in the male and female divisions respectively.
2016 silver medalist, Ashanti Region, Western Region , Volta Region among others are due to compete in the two day hoops celebration.
