The event which is taking place in Ashanti Region’s capital, Kumasi commenced over the weekend following an opening ceremony headlined by Ghana Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Formerly known as the National Unity Games, the multiple sport competition was last held in 2011 in the country’s capital city, Accra.
Following a 10-35 loss to Greater Accra Region in the opening game, he home region’s team recovered to down Brong- Ahafo Region in the following fixture to clinch its maiden win in the competition.
Ashanti’s second win came rather easily since its opponents from Upper West failed to turn up at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Court to honour the tie.
Upper West had lost 0-98 to Central Region in a previous encounter and lose a second straight game by forfeiting the game against Ashanti. Here are results recorded thus far in the competition which is due to end on Wednesday September 6:
Brong Ahafo Region 24-14 Central Region
Eastern Region 11-18 Northern Region
Greater Accra Region 23-8 Upper East Region
