There will be no games for the next three days in this year’s African Nations Championship (AfroBasket) as teams prepare for the knockout phase of the competition in Tunisia.

Following a blitz of engaging ties in Dakar, Senegal and Tunis, action returns on Thursday September 14 in Tunis with quarterfinal games lined up.

Defending champions Nigeria takes on Cameroon at 15:30 GMT after an all North Africa showdown between Morocco and Egypt opens the stage at 13:00 GMT.

The quarterfinal games will be completed with ties between Senegal and Angola and Tunisia and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nigeria and Congo made it from Group A following a shock 83-77 win for the Central African nation in the final preliminary game.

Group B representatives Morocco and Angola, won respective games against Uganda-79-70 and Central African Republic 66-44.

Group C is represented by Tunisia who beat Guinea 64-59 and Cameroon beat Rwanda 81-77 while Senegal and Egypt represent Group D. Senegal beat Mozambique 80-49 and Egypt beat South Africa 70-51.

The competition ends on Saturday September 16 with finalists automatically qualifying for the World Cup in 2019.
