Brimah blocks shot against Temple University.
Ghanaian basketball exports are increasingly finding Europe the perfect spot to play out their professional careers at the elite level in recent times.

After former Providence College and Boston Celtics Forward Ben Bentil signed for French Pro A side Champagne Chalons-Reims, former University of Connecticut Center and Captain Amida Brimah has been linked to Italian Serie A side Sidigas Avellino.

Brimah went undrafted out of UCONN earlier this year but shoned brilliantly in limited minutes in the NBA Summer League where he suited up for Chicago Bulls.

In the aftermath of the preseason tournament and the October 1 start date for the new Italian season, Avellino is considering signing up the 23 year old top shot blocker.

Avellino made it to the last season’s playoffs semifinals and is one of the top sides in the 16 team elite league; Umana Reyer Venezia won the 2016-2017 title.

Brimah’s defensive skill set, stature-6 foot 11 inches and 7 foot 6 inch wingspan- and offensive upside makes him a tantalizing prospect worth a roster spot.

For Bentil, Reims opens the French season on September 26.
