Reformers, Spartans to avoid second straight losses in DII

Spartans (green) fell to the experienced Panthers side.
Rangers (red) clinched the win after a lenghty spell out of action.

Junior Reformers and Spartans will be in action for the second time this week when both teams take the court tonight in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II.

Reformers will be in action against CYO in the opening game of the round at 17:00 GMT with Spartans in line to play against Galaxy in the all Tudu matchup immediately after the first game.

However, both teams head into the respective matchups needing a win to avoid losing twice in as many games this week.

Both teams lost on Monday October 9 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu in specially arranged league games after rains forced league officials to postpone games on the original dates.

Junior Reformers lost 63-71 to Junior Rangers and Spartans lost 36-53 to Panthers on Monday but neither can afford to lose tonight’s crunch games.

While Reformers ranks seventh in the standings, playing more games than the likes of Rangers mean the young side could be surpassed by lower ranked teams should it fail to make the most of the opportunities.

For Spartans who languish in 11th spot, a win is the only way out of the bottom ranks of the standings after winning just one of six games.
