There is a silver lining to every dark cloud and the thick black clouds hanging over Chicago Bulls head prior to its opening game in the new NBA season, could turn out to be a blessing for Amida Brimah and Ghana.
The 6 foot 11 inch former University of Connecticut Center could be a main stay in the NBA should he land a late move to Chicago Bulls following a practice altercation between Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis that has opened up roster spots.
Portis and Mirotic got physical leading to the latter hospitalized with a facial fracture that will keep out for 4-6 weeks. Portis is staring at losing his spot on the team since his contract can be terminated for breaching a team rule that bars harming team player or personnel.
This means Chicago has two spots available in the interim which could be filled by Brimah who is a free agent after getting cut from San Antonio Spurs roster before the season earlier today.
Brimah has featured for Chicago in this year’s Summer League starring in a matchup against Atlanta Hawks. His rim protection and rim finishing ability fits right in the void left behind by the suspended Portis.
