Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League Management has handed down punishment to West Siders and Sunyani Technical University (STU) following the duos action in recent times.
Both teams failed to register in time for the commencement of the 2017-2018 season despite receiving an extended period to do so.
As a result of missing the deadline, both teams were omitted from the roster but management’s stance has shifted and the teams have been slapped with a fine and forfeiture of the first round of games.
The exact amount either has to pay to league management is yet to be known West Sider and STU are competing in the league with a loss in the opening round.
After featuring in the competition since its maiden season in 2015, both clubs risked missing out on the current campaign roster.
However, the decision to include both late on ensured they competed in the latest games played over the weekend.
West Siders lost 32-61 to LIR while STU shocked fans with a 47-25 win over Barracks Scorpions.
