Ahead of a possible rematch of the December 2016 Final at next year’s Sprite Ball Championship, Mfantsipim Coach Isaac Mensah has taken a swipe at reigning National Champions Opoku Ware School.

The experienced Coach stated his team’s can’t be beaten by the Ashanti Regional representative fairly in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com after securing qualification to the next edition of Sprite Ball.

Mfantsipim beat St. Augustine’s College 20-18 in the final game at the Central Regional Qualifiers which took place at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape-Coast.

Mensah indicated Mfantsipim was cheated in the main finals against Opoku Ware which cost them what would have been a fifth national title.

“They were a good team alright but looking at what happened in Accra, it was terrible on the part of the referees” he said in firm belief his side should have been awarded a technical foul after Opoku Ware’s bench rushed on the court.

“That is a technical foul for Mfantsipim for us to go and score (shoot for the free throws) they didn’t whistle for us… Ashanti Region they can’t beat us when it comes to basketball” Mensah said.

Opoku Ware secured a return to next year’s Sprite Ball by topping the Ashanti Regionals; the next Sprite Ball will be held from January 4-6, 2018.
