The tourney which tipped off early in December had eight teams compete with teams like Ghana Navy and Tema Rockets featuring.
Lions win is the team’s first since the tournament’s inception prior to the commencement of the 2017 Tema League season.
Ghana Police clinched third place without sweating out a win at the Tema Community 4 Court a day after falling 34-48 to Community 2.
The team’s opponent, failed to show up for the contest granting Police a win via forfeiture.
By winning the tournament, Lions replace Nungua Coldstore who missed the chance to defend its title since the 2016 League Champions pulled out.
While winning the competition gives Ashaiman a winning start prior to next year’s league campaign, the win halts a a bad run of final losses for Lions.
Despite featuring and excelling in several competitions, Lions have consistently fallen short of annexing the ultimate trophy.
Such losses include this year’s league final where Ashaiman lost two straight games in the series to Tema Community 4. That loss came after falling in the 2016 league finals series to Coldstore.
