The first day of competition at this year’s Sprite Ball Championship has concluded on a blistering but surprising note as shock results ruled the day.

In the opening game, Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) run over record winners of the competition Mfantsipim School 45-14.

Surprises continued as defending champions Opoku Ware School lost 27-38 to Sacred Heart Senior High Technical School in Group D.

St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School pulled off another surprise beating bronze medal winners at the last edition, St. John’s School 34-19.

Matters remained same in the female division as defending champions Wesley Girls High School lost 20-23 to Accra Wesley Girls High School.

In a repeat of the December 2016 encounter in the preliminary stage, Accra avenged the loss in the first clash by piping their opponent from Cape- Coast.

St. Mary’s Senior High School beat former winners and bronze medalist in December 2016 Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School 21-17.
