Host region of the Sprite Ball Championship Greater Accra has taken big steps to have representatives in the final games of the celebrated competition.
This year’s competition got off to a thrilling start with Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) stunning record winners of the Championship, Mfantsipim School.
Osu PRESEC beat Mfantsipim 45-14 making good on a blistering 16-0 start to the game; PRESEC clinched the first half courtesy a 20-4 lead in Group A.
St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School claimed another win for the region after beat St. John’s School, Sekondi 34-19 in Group B.
Aquinas failed to feature at the last edition of the competition while St. John’s made the semifinals before clinching the bronze medal.
In the girls division, Accra Wesley Girls High School beat defending champions Wesley Girls High School 23-20 to complete a trio of wins for Accra.
The win was especially good for the Accra side after losing in the battle of the Wesleys at the last edition held in December 2016.
