This year’s edition of the Sprite Ball Championship ended with a pair of newbie winners as Kumasi Girls High School and Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) emerged champions.

The last edition before this year had Opoku Ware School claim its first title in the male division; however, two time winners Wesley Girls High School added a third title in the women’s division.

Kumasi Girls went a step ahead this year after falling in the final game to Wesley Girls in the last tournament to come out on top of the division.

The team beat Accra Wesley Girls 30-29 in a thrilling final which is the highest scoring finale in the division ever.

While Kumasi Girls win was of little surprise considering the team’s steady progress over the years, PRESEC Osu’s came completely against the odds.

The team was primed to exit at the group stage after getting drawn against former winners Mfantsipim School and Keta Senior High Technical School.

Beating Mfantsipim 45-14 in the opening game set the tone for PRESEC to repeat the end result against in the final.
